I've been trying to figure out whether EveryDollar or YNAB is a better fit for everyday budgeting. I like that EveryDollar feels really simple to set up, but YNAB seems to push me more into actually planning ahead instead of just tracking what I spend.

For me, the hardest part is sticking to categories when unexpected stuff comes up, and YNAB looks like it handles that better. On the other hand, EveryDollar feels a bit more beginner friendly.

Has anyone here tried both for a few months? Which one actually helped you save more money long term?

That's a great comparison. EveryDollar is simple and quick, while YNAB pushes you to plan ahead and stay intentional. A lot of people say YNAB helps them save more long-term, but EveryDollar wins for ease. Would you rather keep budgeting simple or go deeper into tracking and planning?

I'vea ctually used both, and I'd say it depends on how hands-on you want to be. EveryDollar is super easy to set up and great if you just want a simple overview, but I found that YNAB really made me think ahead and actually adjust when surprises popped up. I ended up saving more with YNAB because it forces you to plan every dollar and roll with changes instead of just tracking. It's a bit of a learning curve at first, but once you get the hang of it, it feels way more empowering.

EveryDollar's easier to start.

YNAB's better if you wanna actually plan ahead and handle surprises.

If saving more long term is the goal, YNAB usually wins.
