Hey folks,

I've been debating whether to switch from cable to fiber since I've been hitting some annoying lag during late-night gaming sessions. Fiber supposedly offers faster speeds and more consistent connections, but I'm not sure it's worth the extra cost - especially since not everyone in my area even has access.
Has anyone here made the jump to fiber recently? Did you notice a real difference for gaming, streaming 4K, or working from home? I'd love to hear if it's actually worth upgrading or if cable is still good enough for most people.

I made the switch to fiber earlier this year after getting tired of random lag spikes during online games, and honestly, the difference was night and day. Downloads are faster, pings are lower, and even video calls feel smoother. The upload speed alone makes a big difference if you're streaming or sharing large files. It's a bit pricier, but I've found it worth it for the reliability. If you're not sure, you could run a few speed tests with something like Ookla or Fast to see if your current setup is really holding you back before making the jump.

I switched from cable to fiber a few months back because I was getting constant lag during late-night video calls, and honestly, it's been a huge improvement. The connection feels a lot more stable, even when several devices are streaming or wroking at the same time. Upload speeds are way better too, which makes file sharing and virtual meetings much smoother. It does cost a bit more, but for me, the reliability alone makes it worth it. If you're curious about the difference, try running a few tests on apps like Speedtest or PingPlotter before and after switching.

We've been on fiber for the last few years and it has been wonderful. My sister and I are both working from home and constantly using the internet and we rarely get issues. Upload and download speeds are decent and we both can stream movies/tv shows with no interruptions.

Yeah, moving to fiber made a noticeable difference for me - way more consistent ping during gaming and no random slowdowns when everyone's streaming. Cable can still be fine if your speeds are high and your neighborhood isn't congested, but fiber just feels smoother, especially with multiple devices going at once.

If fiber's available where you are and the price isn't crazy, it's usually worth it - but cable still does the job for a lot of people.
