Has anyone here found small but effective ways to cut down their power bill? Mine has been creeping up the past few months, and I’m realizing I probably waste more energy than I think. I already try to turn off lights when I leave a room, but I’m wondering if things like unplugging electronics or running appliances at night actually make a noticeable difference.
For those of you who’ve managed to bring your bill down, what changes had the biggest impact? Did you focus more on habits (like shorter showers, thermostat changes) or upgrades (LED bulbs, smart plugs, insulation)? I’d love to hear what’s worked for you because I feel like I’m missing some easy wins.

There are a bunch ofs mall changes that can really add up. Things like switching to LED bulbs, unplugging devices when not in use, and being mindful of AC or heater usage can make a noticeable difference. I've also found that running laundry or dishwashers only when full, using fans instead of AC when possible, and setting thermostats a few degrees higher or lower depending on the season helps too. Even minor habits can save a decent chunk over time. What tricks have others found most effective for keeping electricity costs down?

Yeah, I've been in the same boat lately . ,My power bill kept inching up even though I thought I was being careful. What actually made a difference for me was using a couple of smart plugs and tracking my usage to see which appliances were draining power. Unplugging chargers and switching to LED bulbs helped too, but the biggest change came from tweaking my aircon use, setting it a bit higher and using a fan to circulate air. It's small stuff, but oevr a month it really added up.

I live in NJ. So in the summer we use air conditioning. I think we save money by setting the air conditioning to 72 degrees from 10 PM to 6 AM. And 75 degrees from 6 AM to 10 PM. The house cools down to 72 over night, as the outside temp also cools down. Then we wake up to a cool house and the air does not come on during the day because it is set higher than the actual house temperature. As the day heats up it may come on, but not a lot. In the summer the goal for us is electric bill less than $200 a month. We pray for cool summers and warm winters. It can cost 3 times more to heat the house in winter than cool the house in the summer.
