What's the best scavenger hunt app?

I'm planning a scavenger hunt for a group (could be work, school, or even just for fun) and Im looking for a good app to help manage it. Ideally something thats easy to set up, works on mobile, and lets people upload photos, videos , or check off tasks as they go.

Ive seen a few options but not sure which ones are actuallly good for tracking progress, awarding points, or keeping things engaging.

Any recommendations for the best scavenger hunt app?? Would love something that works well for remote teams too.

Bonus points if its free or has a solid trial.

I’ve actually done this a couple times for work events, and it was way more fun than I expected. GooseChase is probably the most popular one I’ve used—it lets you set up photo/video challenges, tracks points in real time, and people get pretty competitive with the leaderboard. Only downside is the free version has some limits, but it’s still enough for a small group.

If you want something simpler (and free), I’ve seen people just use Google Forms + a shared chat for photo uploads, but it’s not as smooth. For remote teams, GooseChase really shines since everything’s mobile-friendly and updates live.
 
I'll second GooseChase. It's really user-friendly, lets you mix up challenges with photos/videos, andt he real-time scoreboard makes it feel like a proper competition. Definitely worth trying, especially for teams.

Just know that some features, like longer videos or more customization, might need a paid plan. It works offline too, but progress only updates when back online, which can be tricky in bad signal areas. Overall, it's a solid choice if you want something simple and mobile-friendly!

Scavos definiteyl seems like a solid, no-frills option. If you're after more customization and real-time interaction though, GooseChase could be worth a look. It's got photo/video submissions, point tracking, and live leaderboards, which make the game feel more engaging. Might be a good alternative if Scavos feels a bit limiting. Would you want to see a side-by-side comparison for your group?

Check outthe scavenger hunt app called PlayTours. I’ve run a few hunts for my work corporate event and some personal use case as for my friend's birthday using PlayTours, and it’s been great experiences for us. It’s super easy to set up, works really well on mobile, and lets players upload photos/videos or check off tasks as they go. You can assign points, track team progress in real time, and build creative clues and challenges without needing any technical skills. It also works well for remote teams, which was a big plus for us.

There’s a free plan to get started so you can test all the core features. One thing I liked is that the pricing is based on concurrent devices model, not per players, which ended up saving us money for group events.

I’ve actually used GooseChase and Scavify before, and both were pretty solid depending on what you need. GooseChase is super easy for beginners and works really well for remote teams since people can upload photos/videos right from their phones and earn points automatically. Scavify feels a little more customizable if you want GPS check-ins, leaderboards, QR codes, etc.
